We took the time to read every single one of Alpaca Expeditions’ reviews obtained since January 2018.
We invested our time reading this company’s reviews to learn their best practices so we can improve our performance.
Here is the thing,
Alpaca Expeditions holds an excellent reputation for being responsible, fair, and socially conscious.
However, upon reading almost 2500 of Alpaca’s reviews, we became surprised by the seemingly limited number of positive reviews praising their responsible and sustainable practices.
Upon comparing Alpaca’s’ and Evolution’s positive reviews, it became clear that in almost every issue regarding responsible tourism, Alpaca fell behind Evolution Treks Peru.
Such difference becomes even more evident when one considers that, since 2018, Alpaca Expeditions has taken almost 20% of the total amount of Inca Trail hikers, while Evolution Treks Peru has taken less than 1%.
We think that these differences shine a light on the genuine commitment of these companies to responsible travel.
The truth is that either Evolution’s clients are more prone to write positive reviews of their responsible travel practices than their counterparts at Alpaca Expeditions, or perhaps, only one of these companies is truly invested in sustainable travel.
The chart below explains in numbers the percentage of travelers who wrote reviews mentioning their impressions on some of the most relevant aspects of their tour operators’ sustainable practices.
Finally, we hope that this chart makes it easier for you to decide which outfitter is more aligned with your principles.
